"Anna Nicole Smith's former companion Howard K. Stern won't challenge paternity rival Larry Birkhead for custody of the tragic model's child--if the photographer is named the baby's biological father. A DNA test was carried out last month and results are expected to be released tomorrow. And sources tell Web site TMZ.com that Stern, who has been acting as baby Dannielynn's guardian since her mother died in February, won't challenge Birkhead's custody claim if he wins the paternity battle.
The source says, "If Larry Birkhead is confirmed to be Dannielynn's biological father, Howard will not challenge custody. His love for her will not change, irrespective of the results.
"Howard will act in Dannielynn's best interest, because he loves her and would want a smooth transition to protect her, as she is deeply bonded to those who have been with her since birth.
"Howard will do whatever is necessary to assist Larry Birkhead to defeat any effort by (Smith's estranged mother) Virgie Arthur to obtain custody of Dannielynn."
Arthur, a former police officer, is currently fighting Stern for custody of her granddaughter. (SOURCE WENN)

US radio talk show presenter DON IMUS has been blasted by critics for issuing "hollow" and "pointless" apologies for his racial slur on his IMUS IN THE MORNING show last week. The disgraced presenter was yesterday (09APR07) issued a two week suspension by his bosses at WFANAM, after calling the players on Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy headed hos" during his Thursday (05APR07) broadcast. He apologised for his comments on Friday (06APR07) and even appeared on REVEREND AL SHARPTON's radio show yesterday to express his deep regret over his actions, admitting he'd gone "way too far". But his words have fallen flat with critics, who are calling for Imus to be fired for his offending remark. KIM GANDY, president of the National Organisation for Women, says, "It's completely hollow. (It's) beyond racist and sexist. "This guy is just trying to get himself out of trouble. It's hard to take him seriously when you look at his past. He's not a first-time offender. The 47th time, I think it rings pretty false." Editor in chief of Essence magazine, ANGELA BURT-MURRAY, adds, "I don't care about an apology. You're not a child on the playground. You're an adult who needs to take responsibility for his actions. And there needs to be consequences. "MICHAEL RICHARDS apologises. We move on. MEL GIBSON apologises. We move on. When does it stop? When do we make it stop?" (SOURCE WENN)

Brandy has been replaced by Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the upcoming season of "America's Got Talent."
While rumors have swirled that Osbourne was in talks with NBC, a well-placed source tells TMZ that the embattled R&B star is officially out -- and the rock and roll chatter queen is in. There was wide speculation over Brandy's role on the talent show following her involvement in a December freeway crash that claimed a woman's life. The City Attorney has yet to file charges against the "Moesha" star. (SOURCE TMZ)

Music producer Jonathan 'J.R.' Rotem ditched Britney Spears when she was caught on camera wearing no panties, he has revealed. The pair began dating last year after Rotem worked with Britney on her yet-to-be-released next album--but their relationship floundered when she was snapped stepping out of a car and flashing her crotch last November.
He says, "Yes, Britney and I were dating, before the crotch-shot thing. Now it's kind of rocky between us. We're working together still, but I'm not sure if I want to be tied down, period."
Since Britney, Rotem has concentrated on adding to his list of celebrity conquests, which he is happy to boast about. He adds, "Britney, Mya, Bai Ling, Hayden Panettiere, Meagan Good--it's a pretty big list, and it's growing. Britney got me the furthest. She had something special." (SOURCE WENN)

Kirsten Dunst is a fan of marijuana and believes the world would be a better place if "everyone smoked weed." The star admits to smoking marijuana and trying other drugs. Dunst, 24, says, "I drink moderately, I've tried drugs. I do like weed. I have a different outlook on marijuana than America does. My best friend Sasha's dad was Carl Sagan, the astronomer. He was the biggest pot smoker in the world and he was a genius."I've never been a major smoker, but I think America's view on weed is ridiculous. I mean - are you kidding me? If everyone smoked weed, the world would be a better place. I'm not talking about being stoned all day, though. I think if it's not used properly, it can hamper your creativity and close you up inside."(SOURCE STARPULSE)

Like any Hollywood bad boy, Tobey Maguire did a stint in rehab before age 21. "I have an addictive nature," he tells the mag. "An obsessive-compulsive nature - well, I don't know that's what it is clinically. But I go to addictive extremes, and before I got sober, that became routine." So how are those 12 steps going, Tobey? "I still have people to apologize to," he laughs.(SOURCE NY DAILY NEWS)

They may have split up but Justin Timberlake has nothing bad to say about his ex Cameron Diaz. Former 'N Sync frontman Justin split from the Something About Mary star in January after dating for almost four years, rivalling his intense four-year-long teen romance with fellow Mickey Mouse Club star Britney Spears. However the SexyBack singer is keeping tight-lipped about Cameron. Speaking to Britain's GQ magazine, Justin said: "It's hard for me to talk about that because we're talking about a person that I love and respect."
And Justin is keen to protect the Charlie's Angels actress from any bad press too.
"If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I'll have something to say to them," he warned. Troubled ex Britney, however, does not get such a warm reception in the May issue of the mag. When asked about the star, recently in rehab, Justin's response was: "Honestly, I am so far removed from that situation." So far removed, he says, that the "coded message" Britney-Justin revivalists saw at the Brit awards is a work of over-active imaginations.
The singer told the crowd to stop drinking or they would "get sloppy", a taunt many saw aimed at Britney. However Justin denies all knowledge of such SAS-style correspondence. "A coded message to Britney?" he asked, shaking his head. (SOURCE CONTACTMUSIC)

magazine bosses have reacted angrily to Halle Berry's claims that they dredged up a 10-year-old story about the actress' 1997 suicide attempt and tried to make it fresh.
In a recent WENN interview, Berry accused the weekend supplement of "regurgitating" the story, prompting other publications and agencies to ask her to talk about her darkest moment all over again. But Parade editors insist the Oscar winner readily chatted about the day she started the process of poisoning herself with carbon monoxide in her car after the end of her first marriage to baseball player David Justice. The magazine's spokeswoman, Alexis Collado, says, "All of the quotes in Parade profile on Halle Berry came from a candid sit-down interview between Ms. Berry and Parade writer Emily Listfield on January 25, 2007.
"Ms. Berry talked very freely about the challenges she has faced in her life, including her failed marriages and suicide attempt. It is unfortunate that Ms. Berry has chosen to respond to media interest by backing away from what she originally told Parade.
"Anyone who actually read the article is sure to see it as a very positive profile of a strong woman who has overcome many challenges in her life and is now on a clear path to happiness." (SOURCE HOLLYWOOD.COM)"
