MOMMA ON A MISSION

"DNA TEST DONE AFTER TEN DAYS SHE THREATENS EDDIE WITH COURT
SHE was devastated when Eddie Murphy failed to get in touch after she gave birth. Now a heartbroken Mel B has been reduced to tears after being forced to take DNA from her 10-day-old baby girl, Fortuna Daphne Bay, to prove he is the father. A pal of the former Scary Spice tells us: "She is distraught that her baby has been subjected to the DNA-testing procedure. "She can't believe that it's come to this and that Eddie hasn't just admitted that the child is his. "This last week should have been an incredible time for Mel, but it's been emotionally overwhelming and she's been constantly in tears. "The DNA test was the last straw and she's gearing up to fight back. She's a strong-willed woman and will fight to the end." Leeds-born Mel, 31, has listed Eddie as the father on the birth certificate. After hiring an expensive lawyer she is preparing legal documents demanding a DNA sample from the Hollywood star, who is said to be worth £60million. If he refuses, then the case will go to court - and things will get even uglier. At the same time, she is launching a new PR offensive. We hear that savvy Mel has already done a £250,000 deal with a glossy magazine to show off her new baby - and to prove to the world that 46-year-old Eddie is the father. She has also been telling friends Fortuna looks just like him and has the "same eyes". One of them tells us: "They look very much alike and she wants to let everyone know that Eddie has to take his responsibilities as a father seriously. "She feels so wronged by Eddie and wants to put her side of the story across. She was very publicly dumped live on Dutch TV. Now she is getting her revenge in an equally public way." Mel, who has another daughter, eight-year-old Phoenix Chi from her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar, is adamant that she doesn't want Eddie to play any part in her child's life. One pal reveals: "He hasn't even sent a card or bunch of flowers. That has made Mel's mind up - she doesn't want him to have anything to do with her." Mel started dating Eddie after they met a party and it's rumoured that she became pregnant the first time they slept together. Their whirlwind romance ended when she was dumped in December and he denied he was the father of her baby. Eddie - who divorced his wife of 12 years, Nicole Mitchell, four months ago - is now rumoured to be getting hitched to music producer Tracey Edmonds. Talk about a fast worker..."
